SEND and Inclusion
Inclusion
At John Donne Primary School, we believe that inclusion should be at the heart of everything that we do.
SEND
We consider it essential that the curriculum on offer to all our pupils is presented in a supportive and stimulating atmosphere, which values each child and encourages them to achieve the full potential. This encompasses the four main areas of SEND:
- Communication and interaction
- Cognition and learning
- Social, mental and emotional health
- Sensory and/or physical
EAL
As a diverse community school, we celebrate and value all of the children in our school, including those learning English as an additional language. We aim to provide visual learning opportunities in all lessons and differentiate learning to meet the needs of our pupils.
Wider Pastoral Team
We also understand that a range of factors can affect a child’s personal development and attitude towards school and learning. Our staff work alongside our wider pastoral team, parents, carers and external agencies to help offer a range of programmes and support networks to help and encourage children experiencing emotional barriers to their learning.
